Village Life

As a resident of the Student Village, you'll have access to the new Hub, boardwalk, parkland and new parking facilities.

You can also experience the buzz of city life and culture on your doorstep. The Student Village will be within walking distance of Stoke-on-Trent train station and the £60m Goods Yard development featuring cafes, entertainment and social spaces.

Vibrant Village Hub

You'll find a ready-made community at the Village Hub. It will have everything you need in one location – from social spaces to support.

You can use the multifunctional area to showcase your projects, including makers' markets, student exhibitions and other pop-up events. There are personal study areas too, along with a prayer area and a base for student services.

The net-zero building is at the centre of our efforts to become more sustainable as a university. It features solar panels and other renewable energy sources, and is also accessible from every level of the Student Village.

All aboard the boardwalk

You'll have a scenic stroll to lectures. An attractive boardwalk will connect the Student Village with our main Leek Road buildings. There's also a footbridge crossing the River Trent, making it easier to get around campus.

A Green Oasis

Our Student Village is nestled alongside our nature reserve. The tranquil setting includes a pond, woodland and wildlife meadow. Recent improvements have led to greater biodiversity, with plants, invertebrates, fish and birds.

We are also creating new parkland, including an 800m fitness loop with a surfaced path for walking, cycling or jogging. If running isn't your style, you can explore fitness stations along the loop, a decked area for yoga and informal exercise, or space to just relax with friends. What's not to love?

Squires View

We are keeping the Student Village mostly parking-free to maintain a pedestrian-friendly and sustainable environment. For those with accessibility needs, we're adding 25 accessible/EV charging spaces at the village. And don’t worry about move-in day as you can park close to your new home while unloading and settling into village life.

To offset the spaces being repurposed for our new parkland, Squires View (located on campus and accessible from Leek Road) will provide 200 additional parking spaces. These will be available to all students, staff and visitors, in addition to the existing parking at Leek Road and College Road.
