Course content
The course covers change management, where we’ll teach you about dealing with conflict and transforming organisational cultures. Other topics include authentic leadership and data and decision-making.
You’ll also get to grips with how to research markets, prepare reports and drive overall organisational success.
To help give you the edge with employers, we offer double accreditation. It means you’ll get a leadership and management qualification from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) as well as your degree.
Modules

Our teaching is informed by research, and modules change periodically to reflect developments in the discipline. We aim to ensure that all modules run as scheduled. Consultancy/Management Project In Specialism
In the first part of the module, you will learn about research, research process and differences between quantitative and qualitative research. In the second part of the module, you will develop collaborative consultancy/management project with an organisation of your choice to identify an area of research beneficial to both you and the organisation. You will be involved in real-time problem solving, develop a set of recommendations based on your research findings and present those findings to the organisation.

Data And Decision Making
Data is of great importance of modern organisations. This module will explore the role and importance of information and data within organisations, tools and techniques for analysing and interpreting the data for the purposes of decision making, and tools and techniques for data presentation and visualisation. In addition, the module will cover the concepts and principles in business statistics.

Innovative Change Management
In this module, you will explore the dynamics of organisational change and how firms can leverage innovative business models to compete in a changing world. The business environment is dynamic in nature and business managers are faced with a multitude of challenges which require them to continually adapt and change in an effective manner. You will learn the skills and practical tools for planning and managing organisational transformations which could include turnarounds, cultural changes and strategic shifts.

Authentic Leadership
Authentic leadership brings together the concept of authenticity with positive psychology. You will learn how to make confident and effective leadership interventions and to be aware of the impact of these interventions in wider organisational settings. You will explore the theory and process of leadership and explore your own preferred style.

This degree will give you lots of career options in business. In recent years, graduates have entered marketing, human resource management, and operations management in the public and private sectors.
Many have set up their own successful businesses.
Teaching and assessment
Teaching
You will be taught via a combination of lectures, tutorials, industry visits and independent study. You will use resources including books, journals and digital databases, social media resource banks and more to immerse yourself in each discipline and you will be challenged to picture what the business landscape of the future will be.
Seminars enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups of around 16-18 students. In addition, you will have timetabled meetings with your academic mentor at least twice a year. You will be taught in first-class learning spaces throughout your course. Many of our courses are accredited or recognised by professional, statutory or regulatory bodies.
Assessment
Assessment methods depend on the modules you will be studying. The primary methods of assessment are coursework and evaluative assignments, digital portfolio development, in-class tests, presentations (both individual and group) and examinations. Most modules include a Tutorial Assessment, which carry a weighting of around 10% and your attendance and participation in class will be reflected in the awarded mark.
Independent learning
When not attending lectures, seminars, laboratory or other timetabled sessions, you will be expected to continue learning independently through self-study. Typically, this will involve utilising a range of digital resources including our virtual learning environment; reading journals, articles and books; working on individual and group projects; undertaking research in the library; preparing coursework assignments and presentations. Your independent learning will be supported by a range of excellent facilities. These include the library, open access computer facilities, informal learning zones, a range of laboratories and specialist teaching areas.

UK and Channel Island students: This tuition fee is agreed subject to UK government policy and parliamentary regulation. If the UK government passes appropriate legislation, the fee for subsequent years of study may increase in each academic year. But this increase will not exceed the rate of inflation as measured by RPIX**. Any change in fees will apply to both new and continuing students. The University will notify students of any change as early as possible. Further information about fee changes would be posted on the University’s website once this becomes available.
