Cervical Screening - Sample Takers Update

Overview

Although cervical cancer looks to become a disease of the past for future and younger generations' there will be an ongoing requirement for women over 25 now to have smears as they are outside the vaccination cohort.

Learning outcomes:

  •  Revise knowledge and understanding of the national cervical screening Programme
  • Understand the implications of HPV screening as part of the Programme
  • What happens after the sample gets to the lab
  • Understanding the nature of the problem (epidemiology)
  • New PHE 2020 guidelines

Entry requirements

Each delegate should bring with them audit evidence of their last 20 cervical samples taken. (PHE 2020 – NHSP guidance for training of cervical sample takers)
