A day in the life of an MBA student

For Shyni Nappanda Sathish Kumar, studying for an MBA at the University of Staffordshire is about building on years of professional experience and taking the next step towards a career in supply chain and procurement.

After completing her undergraduate degree in 2015 and spending more than a decade working in procurement and buying, Shyni decided the time was right to invest in her future and deepen her expertise in supply chain management. Alongside developing strategic decision-making and analytical skills, she’s balancing lectures, independent study and part-time work as part of everyday life as an MBA student.

Here, Shyni shares what a typical day looks like while studying her MBA at University of Staffordshire.

Morning - commuting and lecture

I start my day by attending lectures, especially supply chain modules which I really enjoy and want to build my career in.

Midday - independent study

After class, I spend time in the library reviewing concepts and working on assignments.

Afternoon - Seminar & group work

In the afternoon, I work with classmates on group discussions, which helps me learn different perspectives.

Evening - part-time work

In the evening, I balance my studies with part-time work, which helps me gain practical experience in the UK.

Night - Reflection

I end my day by revising and planning for the next day.

From lectures and library study sessions to collaborative group work and gaining practical experience through part-time employment, Shyni’s MBA journey is helping her build the skills and confidence needed for a future in procurement and supply chain management.

By combining academic learning with real-world experience, she’s developing the knowledge to analyse operations, make strategic decisions and prepare for the next stage of her career - proving that it’s never too late to invest in your future.
