Benjamin Hallam

I have been registered as a paramedic since completing my foundation degree in Paramedic Science at Coventry University in 2008. I began my career in pre-hospital emergency care in Warwickshire and qualified as an Advanced Paramedic in 2011, then migrated to Aldridge on the border between the West Midlands and Staffordshire.

I continued employment with West Midlands Ambulance Service, progressing to a Rapid Response Paramedic and later a Clinical Team Mentor. In 2015 I embarked on a career in academia at Staffordshire University as a Lecturer in Paramedic Science. I achieved a distinction in my Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Professional Education, became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education whilst in this post.

In 2020 I left Staffordshire University and returned to clinical practice at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, as an Emergency Care Practitioner working in a busy A&E minor injuries department. This experience led to me joining a team of primary care paramedics working within a network of local GP surgeries, and during this time I completed a further BSc in Emergency Practice before returning to academia at Staffordshire University as a Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science. I now teach on both pre and post-graduate programs and am in my final year of completing my Masters degree in Education.
