At Staffordshire University I work as an Academic Tutor on the Step Up to Higher Education Foundation Certificate programme of study. My role involves helping students return to education and developing the key academic skills needed for University level study. I also provide learners with pastoral and UCAS support, careers advice and guidance.
Prior to joining Staffordshire University, I spent 10 years working in Further Education as a sports lecturer and personal tutor. I was employed at three different FE colleges across the West Midlands. I have a Masters degree in the Sociology of Sport, a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport & Exercise Sciences and a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I am also an FA level 2 qualified football coach and have worked for Stoke City Football Club’s Community Trust programme. I chose a career in teaching because I strongly believe in the transformative power of education and I am passionate about helpings others to realise their full potential and change their lives for the better.
