I am the module leader for Response Policing and Policing the Roads. I hold an MSc in Applied Research awarded by Staffordshire University in 2019, where I undertook research into the interactions between police officers and domestic abuse victims. I hold a BSc in Physical Geography and Sociology awarded by Keele University in 2003.
I have a keen interest in improving the police response to domestic abuse and am inspired by my mother-in-law, who herself is a DV survivor.
I have 18 years experience as a police officer, attaining the rank of sergeant. I predominantly worked in response policing, with some time spent as a custody sergeant.
I am currently undertaking a PhD with Staffordshire University, researching the field of Domestic Abuse. This research aims to understand the impact of domestic violence protection orders from the perspective of the perpetrator.
I led a localised project for the development of a VR program aimed at raising awareness of violence against women and girls. This program is currently being delivered to schools, colleges and business locally within Stoke-on-Trent and was featured on local BBC and Hits Radio.
