Dr Duncan Hindmarch

Course Director

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I am Course Director for the Postgraduate and Professional area within the Institute of Education.  I teach on the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher and Professional Education which leads training for academics as well as professional trainers in the police and armed forces.  I am also a supervisor/examiner on the Education Professional Doctorate and PhD.

Since joining Staffordshire University in 2011, I have been an Award Leader of partnerships-based programmes, such as the Foundation Degree in Education, BA Education and Lifelong Learning as well as the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher and Professional Education (PgCHPE).  Prior to this I taught English as a Foreign Language in Japan and led EFL/ESOL Teacher Training Awards.  In 2019-20 I was Academic Link Tutor with CDUT in Chengdu, China, leading our Masters’ dissertation module there.  My expertise within all education sectors has informed the successful publications of education books which I have either been lead author for or co-written.  These are aimed at supporting practitioners from primary to adult learning sectors to improve their practice-based skills through critically informed reflective thinking.
