Jennifer Hughes

Lecturer

School of Health, Science and Wellbeing

I have been working in healthcare since 2007, with extensive experience across emergency medicine, minor injuries, mental health, learning disabilities, and health assessment. My primary area of clinical expertise is in accident and emergency, where I continue to practice alongside my academic role.

Since 2020, I have worked as a nurse lecturer, delivering education to both pre-registration and post-registration healthcare professionals. I have a particular passion for simulation-based education and clinical skills training. I firmly believe in the value of immersive, hands-on learning in a safe environment—an approach well-supported by evidence for improving clinical competence and confidence.

Outside of teaching and nursing, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, and I have a keen interest in computing.
