Sheryl Wheeler

Recruitment Development Officer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I started working at Staffordshire University in 2017 as Placements Administrator for the School of Life Sciences and Education. The role allowed me to develop my knowledge of Higher Education and the Staffs community.

In 2020 I progressed to the position of Placement Lead within the Career Connect service, supporting students across all departments with all aspects of work-related learning. This was a vast and varied role including business liaison; developing strategic plans and management procedures; designing and delivering sessions/workshops/activities; data management and line manager responsibilities.

Looking for a new challenge, I joined the Institute of Policing in 2022, working with our partner forces supporting the recruitment of new police officers. Promoting the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship and Degree Holder Entry Programme provides the opportunity to develop new recruitment resources and activities. Attending events, delivering activity sessions, and supporting students through the application journey allows me to make a difference to my community through a job that I love.
