I am a Lecturer in Nursing and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the School of Health, Education, Policing and Sciences, with expertise in mixed-methods research and a strong background in qualitative methodologies.
My research is centred on patient safety and explores how equity in academia and practice, workforce development, and research capacity shape safer outcomes for patients and communities. I am particularly interested in nursing professions, students, and racially minoritised communities. I have led and contributed to multi-method studies on workforce development, patient safety, and clinical practice, and have disseminated my work in scholarly publications, conference presentations, and professional networks.
I currently lead research placements for nursing students and have provided hands-on research experience through the NIHR-funded Undergraduate Internship Programme, supporting the development of research skills and confidence. While this work has focussed on nursing to date, I am committed to extending these opportunities to other healthcare professionals to promote inclusive and sustainable research capacity-building across disciplines. I also supervise postgraduate students at Masters and doctoral levels and serve as a peer reviewer for academic journals.
I am a Fellow of Advance HE and contribute to the University’s Research Ethics Committee, supporting the ethical conduct of health-related research. My work reflects a commitment to fostering inclusive opportunities, amplifying underrepresented voices, and equipping the next generation of healthcare professionals with the skills and confidence to engage in research and scholarship that advance patient safety.
