Fresh, healthy meals everyday

We know how important it is for children to have good food that fuels their play and learning. That’s why we provide fresh, healthy meals and snacks every day, all included in your nursery fees.

Children can enjoy

  • Breakfast at 10:00am
  • A cooked lunch
  • A light tea
  • Milk and water are offered with meals, and fresh drinking water is always available in every room

All food is cooked on-site in the University’s kitchens, and we are proud to hold both a Level 5 Food Hygiene Rating and Soil Association's 'Food For Life' award – giving you peace of mind that your child is eating nutritious, high-quality food.

Mealtimes made special

For us, mealtimes are about much more than eating. They are calm, social moments where children can relax, chat with friends, and learn new skills.

Our staff sit with children in small groups, modelling healthy eating and encouraging conversation. From the very beginning, children are supported to be independent – whether that’s learning to use a spoon in the baby room, pouring their own drink as a toddler, or serving themselves at preschool snack time.

We focus on helping children build healthy habits and independence during mealtimes and with our experienced and trained staff you can feel reassured your child is in safe hands.

Supporting every child

We know that every child is unique, and that includes their eating habits. We cater for all allergies, dietary requirements, and cultural preferences, and we work closely with families to make sure children feel safe and supported at mealtimes.

If your child is just starting to wean, we’ll support you with your chosen approach. If your child is a little unsure with food, we’ll encourage them gently and positively. Many parents are surprised at how quickly children gain confidence when they see their friends enjoying new tastes and textures.

A varied, balanced menu

Our menus run on a five-week rotation offering children a wide range of tastes and experiences. Menus are shared with families, and always reflect seasonal, balanced choices.

The new government guidance encourages nurseries to plan menus using the “Provide, Limit, Avoid” approach – meaning more vegetables, wholegrains, and healthy proteins, while limiting sugary and salty foods. This helps children build healthy eating habits that last a lifetime.
