Becoming Carbon Literate – Your Guide To Net Zero’

Overview

This immersive day session is designed to help learners gain a clearer understanding of the concept of carbon net zero, why society urgently needs to decarbonise, and their role in generating and reducing carbon emissions both personally and within the workplace.

Participants will gain the ability to identify actions that will help reduce the carbon emissions associated with their lifestyles and working practices.

Course Overview

This course will cover:

The key sources and impacts of carbon and greenhouse gas emissions.

• The meaning of the terms: carbon net zero; carbon footprint; carbon offsetting; carbon capture and storage.
• The role of individuals and organisations in both generating and reducing carbon emissions.
• Practical tools to help identify and reduce your personal carbon footprint.

Course Aims

• A good understanding of the role of individuals and organisations in both generating and reducing carbon emissions.
• Identifying appropriate actions to reduce the carbon emissions associated with individual lifestyles and working practices.
• The skills to effectively use online tools to calculate personal carbon footprint.

Award

On completion of this session, learners will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Learners can also apply to become certified as Carbon Literate by submission of an application process. The process will be explained during our session. The application involves verification by the Carbon Literacy Project, an independent certification body.
