Thematic structure

ICYou publishes one thematically structured volume every four months. Please see the rotation list on this page for details of the themes included in each rotation.

We welcome submissions on any aspect of D&I related to policing. The subject areas are deliberately broad so authors can explore and write creatively on their areas of interest. ICYou focuses on the external dynamic as much as the internal. So, submissions regarding police and community relations, community cohesion and tensions are welcomed as much as submissions relating to workforce representation and disproportionalities.

Some illustrative examples include:

  • The impact of Covid on the mental health of police officers
  • Degree Holder Entry Programmes & Social Mobility: Professionalising the Police Service or Marginalising Communities?
  • One Black Police Chief Constable: Has the Service Reached its Quota?
  • Positive Action & Police Recruitment: A critical review

You are more than welcome to send us your submissions throughout the year. However, accepted submissions will only be published in accordance with the rotation cycle under which the theme is included. You can review our publishing guidelines on our 'get involved' page.
