Studying Health and Social Care

Introducing your course leader - Jill Salt

I’m passionate about Health and Social Care and the huge scope of the field. It encompasses everyone from politicians to health care assistants. It involves practical hands-on care alongside policy making in government and within local councils. It concerns all of us and that’s why the BSc Hons in Health and Social Care at the University of Staffordshire is so important.

My main interest is in the politics of health and social care; from legislation that hopes to protect us from harm e.g. the 1998 Human Rights Act to the way we educate our future workforce.

Outside of work, I am an elected councillor and represent my town of Biddulph and its population. This gives me a unique and working insight into what I have just described.

I look forward to welcoming you to the University of Staffordshire in September and sharing our knowledge, expertise and experiences together to make the world a better place in the future.
