Simon started as a freelance sports reporter covering football matches, then as a full-time sports reporter, eventually becoming a news reporter and then onto becoming News Editor, where he covered major stories such as the failings at Stafford Hospital. He has presented Friday evening and Saturday afternoon sports shows, phone-ins and covered finals at both Wembley and the Millennium Stadium, and European matches.

Simon has worked with a wide range of BBC and independent broadcasters and has extensive links with local football and sport clubs and sporting venues.
