Steve Rimell joined the University of Staffordshire as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the university executive team in 2026.
He is responsible for the finance and commercial functions and is the executive lead for estates master-planning and sustainability.
Previously, Steve was the Chief Operating Officer for QA Higher Education and prior to that Deputy Vice Chancellor at Birmingham City University. Earlier executive roles include CFO in the music industry, CEO/CFO in the energy sector, Deputy CEO in an FE College, and before that operated as a senior leader in finance, strategy, and transformation in the banking and energy sectors for Bank of America, Barclays, and British Gas/Centrica. He has also served as a non-executive director in the NHS, energy sector, and in education.
He graduated from the University of Leicester in Law, qualified as an accountant, and later completed an MBA with the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester.
