Rebecca Sherratt

P/T Lecturer (Hrly) - Education

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

Since completing my English Literature degree at Lancaster University, I have spent my career in education. Employed initially as an English teacher, I moved into teaching both English and Drama at a local secondary school, where I remained for nine years before moving into Higher Education as the English PGCE Course Leader in Staffordshire University’s Institute of Education in 2017. I am extremely passionate about developing English education in the local area, with a particular interest in creativity in the secondary English classroom.

Since joining Staffordshire University I have worked with local schools, created our annual ‘Poetry and Visual Arts Project’ and taught on all aspects of the PGCE.I currently lead on the English PGCE, designing and developing the subject specific aspect of the curriculum alongside whole cohort sessions such as Literacy and using your voice in the classroom.

Outside of education, I enjoy reading, walking my dog and spending time with family and friends. I am also self-employed part time as a piano teacher and events pianist.
