Studying Education

Welcome to the Institute of Education

Here at University of Staffordshire, we’re on a mission to champion education from pre-school to professor. That’s why we set up the Institute of Education.

It’s brought together our wide range of expertise, including early years, teacher training and professional development, research projects and bespoke support for schools. It means we can support you at every stage of your professional journey.

We look forward to welcoming you in September.

Course highlights

The course is designed predominantly for learning practitioners currently working within an education setting who have chosen a work-based, part-time course of study that allows you to make connections between your current practice and the modules of study on the course.

Key features of your Education top up course include:

  • A focus on you as a learning practitioner, helping you to build self-confidence, self-knowledge and self-belief in your subject knowledge and understanding and in your own skills, attributes, competences and abilities,

  • A flexible approach to learning using both online teaching sessions for convenience and optional face-to-face seminars and tutorials for academic support,

  • Opportunities to choose the context for your module assessments which are linked to your own practice within your own setting, with a specific focus on Early Years provision and practice, or with a more general focus on Education in schools, colleges or other education settings.
