Professional memberships and activities

After 37 extremely busy years teaching Biology/Science at a local 13-19 secondary school, I joined the PGCE team on a part time basis to develop and run the Biology PGCE. This opportunity allowed me to use and apply my massive experience of effective classroom teaching to support the development and training of Biology teachers of the future.
As a successful classroom teacher for many years I have a wide variety of experiences. I have taught extensively at KS4 and KS5, eventually leading and managing a Biology and then Science Department. I have been involved in considerable curriculum change and development. I was a Sixth Form Pastoral Tutor/Learning Mentor for many years, particularly involved in supporting student UCAS applications into science related degree courses.
I was involved in supporting and leading ITT within my secondary school for many years, initially acting as Subject Mentor and progressing to Professional Mentor for 18 years. Being involved with a variety of ITT providers allowed me to gain valuable experience to support my role.
I support the local Science hubs, allowing valuable networking opportunities for myself and my trainee teachers.
