We are very pleased to welcome you into our academic community and we wish you a happy and successful time with us. The programme is designed to help you settle in to Staffordshire and make a positive start to your life as student here at Staffordshire University. Our International Welcome and Orientation programme will begin on Thursday 16th January 2020.
Please note: The International Student Support team reserves the right to change details (e.g. events and locations) of welcome activities should it be necessary. In the event of any change to the advertised format, we will do everything possible to communicate the changes in the most appropriate and timely way including putting a notice on the International Student Support Website.
If you haven't already completed online enrolment, you'll be able to do so when you arrive on campus. You'll need your bank account details and a digital copy of a passport-style photo for this. Don’t worry you can upload your photo when you arrive on campus, but it will be quicker if you do this in advance.
All international students’ cards are valid for one year. In order to renew your card, you are required at the start of each academic year to undertake a right to study check. This involves you bringing your passport and visa to a specified point for verification by our International Student Support team. Once this check has been completed, you will receive your new student card. Please note that this check must be completed within 4 weeks of the start of term.
There will be lots of staff from our support teams and academic colleagues available over the weekend to chat to – they will be able to answer your queries and provide you will valuable information about the University, the week ahead and the course you will be studying.
As a registered student, you'll be able to access the campus Wi-Fi using your university log on details - If you have any issues accessing the Wi-Fi, or any other technical issues, our Digital Services team will be around to help (you can spot them in their orange t-shirts).
Even though you might be starting your university career away from campus or at a different point in the year, we're still here to help you get started.
With distance learning course routes often starting at different points throughout the academic year, you'll typically recieve a personal welcome and induction schedule from your course leaders. Congratulations, you’re now an apprentice at Staffordshire University. Before you start your journey to success, here’s a bit of information to give you a taster of what to expect of life at our University.
As an apprentice, every day will be different - you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn in varied environments, giving you both the practical and theoretical knowledge to become an expert in your field. Typically, your time will be split between studying here on campus with us, logging in remotely via Blackboard (our virtual learning environment), and experiencing paid-work with your employers.
There’s so much more to an apprenticeship than work life and studying. Our campuses are friendly, lively places with lots to offer, including sporting facilities and social spaces.
We’ve invested in great new facilities on campus to make Staffordshire University a hub of activity and opportunity.
