Approaches to Teaching and Learning in Healthcare

Individual Modules

Location

Centre for Health Innovation Stafford

Start dates available

  • April 2027

The module addresses the complexity of approaches to teaching in healthcare, including the variety of different types of learning context.

It will facilitate the evaluation of teaching practice within the workplace from planning a teaching session, through to its delivery and evaluation. This will enable consideration of alignment between planning and delivery across the learning journey.

The module will also address the diversity of learner characteristics and matters of equality and inclusion. Teaching and assessment

Teaching

The primary learning strategy utilised within this module is independent learning. The foundation and direction for your learning will be through the virtual learning environment, Blackboard. This will direct you to the key content and theoretical concepts. This provides a platform for your independent reading and reflection upon how the theory can be applied to your own teaching practice.

A variety of sources will be utilised, including narrated PowerPoint Presentations as well as more interactive activities such as identification of your own learning style, formative quizzes, article critique, and online discussion forums.

Your practical experience of teaching in health or social care settings will be the basis for reflection and discussion in the online discussion forums; you will be encouraged to reflect on your teaching strategies and student feedback.
