About this course

Whether you’re an experienced teacher or new to the profession, you’ll be able to gain formal recognition for your skills.

The course will enhance your professional knowledge and understanding through academic study, critical reflection and work-based learning. You’ll put the theory into practice either in your own workplace or on placement in a post-16 education setting.

There will also be the opportunity to develop your skills through teaching observations and working alongside peers. The course is built around a framework of professional standards for teaching to help you deliver high-quality experiences to learners.

If you’re a graduate, you will be eligible to complete the PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET). Non-graduates can take this PCET Level 5 Certificate in Education.

Delivered through Burton and South Derbyshire College, both routes will lead to a qualification awarded by University of Staffordshire.
