Inspiring the next generation

Binita, a final year BSc Cyber Security (with a placement year) student.

Binita Makanji, a final year BSc Cyber Security (with a placement year) student at University of Staffordshire London, has been nominated for the Inspirational Youth Awards 2026.

She has been recognised in the Young STEAM Personality of the Year category, which celebrates young people who demonstrate achievement, innovation and strong communication across Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).

The category also recognises individuals who actively inspire others through outreach, leadership and sharing their passion for STEAM with the wider community.

Supporting Future Talent

Alongside her studies, Binita has been actively involved in outreach and engagement work. As a Student Ambassador at the University of Staffordshire London, she regularly supports open days, careers fairs and events where she shares her experience of studying cyber security with prospective students.

One of her most meaningful experiences was returning to her former school to speak with students about careers in technology and the opportunities available through higher education.

“Inspiring and supporting the next generation of tech enthusiasts, particularly encouraging more young women to consider technology careers, has always been a huge passion of mine and it’s something I will carry forward beyond my degree.”

About the Inspirational Youth Awards
