Fashion highlights - Semester 1

Semester 1 highlights

In Semester 1 we welcomed our new students who are taking complete advantage of our new pathways; Fashion & Textiles, Fashion Design and Technology and Fashion Marketing and Communication.

The students have made a great start with Technical Process of Fashion learning all elements from printing their own fabric through to planning and completing an editorial shoot (images attached).

Our level 5 students have been working on a live brief with Jayley Collection, creating a spring summer collection or campaign, the winners are soon to be picked and will complete a 2 week placement at Jayleys headquarters.

Our final year students are working hard on their final major projects and planning ahead of Graduate Fashion Week in June 2026.

Looking forward to semester 2

We are very excited to move in Semester 2, our level 4 students will be collaborating with Culture& around the subject of unhomely looking at current hot topics in the fashion industry, the students will approach the brief from all areas of fashion resulting in an exhibition in the spring.

Semester 2 is busy for us with our preparation for degree show and trips to London, we will have a stand at GFW again this year and also hope to be part of the collective catwalk, our final years are working on a broad range of subject such as ‘AI – the collaborator’, Beauty Standards throughout history, ‘Bollywood meets Hollywood’ and beyond.

Chessie Rouendaal - Fashion

Fashion is a great course. My favourite part about the course is the opportunities that come alongside it.

The course is not just all about making garments, it's about understanding fashion in culture, business and sustainability. I really like how you get to experiment with everything from concept development, and garment construction to working with other courses in print making and photography. Everyone in Fashion is lovely: both lecturers and peers provide support and encouragement to explore all of these new things.

Experimentation and play are key approaches to the course, which make it all the more fun.
