When starting out at university I made the decision to commute from home instead of living on campus, a decision that would shape the very way university life worked for me. From socialising all the way to how I'd study for an assignment, these are all factors to consider when thinking of commuting.
Why did I make that decision is the question some of you might just be wondering. Well, it mainly came down to the financial side. Looking at rent prices combined with the cost of living was just something I couldn't comfortably sustain at that time. But is that the main reason why you should stick to commuting? Definitely not, there are a plethora of different circumstances that could lead to somebody having to live at home instead of living on campus.
Some tips for commuting life? Well, I am the right guy just for that.
First, make the most of those Tesco points and Nectar points. They really do add up, and they might just make the difference between if you're eating just plain old birds eye chicken one week or a full nice Sunday roast the next.
Secondly, actively push to hang out with friends! You can easily get swept away and left behind when you're not a direct part of the campus culture, so just keep annoying those lovely friends to hang out with you so that mental health is truly sublime.
Finally, just make sure you're picking the most efficient routes to university that are both time efficient and fuel efficient.
On an overall note, just enjoy your time at university. All because you're not living on campus doesn't mean you aren't a part of the campus culture, so get into all those society events and really make the most of those days you're actual on campus for lessons. Just so you can maximise fuel consumption.
