About GEN

The Games Education Network (GEN) is the University of Staffordshire’s Further Education network. We are passionate about developing the next generation of talent, and part of that is our continued commitment to working as closely as possible with colleges throughout the UK.

An evolution of FORGE

GEN is an evolution of what was previously known as FORGE. The relationships stay the same. What’s new is a clearer name and a formal CPD offer for lecturers through our Games Training Centre.

We're working towards reliable, ongoing professional growth for FE lecturers, and a lasting partnership for games education across further education.

FAQs

Is GEN free to join?

Yes. General membership of GEN is completely free and open to all UK colleges. Register now by filling in our form.

What happened to FORGE?

GEN is the evolution of FORGE. The relationships are the same under a new name, so if you worked with us before, GEN will feel very familiar.

Where can I see the CPD classes and dates?

In our training catalogue, where you can also register for classes. All classes and timings are subject to change, so this page always has the latest schedule.

How do I register for a class?

Choose a class in the training catalogue and select “Register for this class”. CPD Service Plan seat holders register the same way and attend free.

How much is a class?

£45 ex VAT per person, per class. Classes are free for CPD Service Plan seat holders. Read more about plans and pricing.

What does a class include?

The live online webinar and a supporting class recording.

Are classes online or in person?

All classes are delivered online.

Do I need a CPD Service Plan to book a class or the educator day?

No. Classes and educator day tickets can be bought individually, with or without a plan.

How much is the CPD Service Plan?

£200 (excluding VAT) a year, which includes four staff seats. Additional seats are £50 (excluding VAT) per lecturer, per year. Read more about plans and pricing.

How do we pay for the plan?

One agreement a year, with a single invoice against one purchase order. Read more about plans and pricing.

Can we use the recordings with our students?

No. Recordings and digital materials are for personal staff development and are not licensed for re-use as classroom teaching materials. Apply what you learn freely.

Do prices include VAT?

No. All prices exclude VAT.

When is the next GEN educator day?

Email gen@staffs.ac.uk to register your interest, and we’ll let you know the date.
