Studying Professional Policing

Introducing your course leader - Sarah Watson

I am Sarah, the course leader for Professional Policing and am very excited you’ve applied to our course.

I have a Criminology background and undertook my undergraduate degree as a mature student and have been in academia ever since! I have an interest in crime and human behaviours generally, but my particular focus is on firearms which is what I am undertaking my PhD in, exploring mass shooting incidents across Europe.

In addition to this, I teach on some core first year modules around policing roles and responsibilities and academic study skills. I also teach on some of our vulnerability-based modules and lead supervision of student projects in this field. I understand many of the challenges that students may face whilst at university and am well prepared to offer you advice and support throughout your studies to see you succeed.
