Senior Lecturer Patient Safety and Simulation

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I am a Senior Lecturer in Patient Safety and Simulation within the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. I qualified as a Registered Nurse at the then-named Staffordshire University in 2006 and subsequently specialised in interventional cardiology.

My clinical experience includes performing procedures such as coronary stenting for patients experiencing heart attacks, as well as electrophysiological interventions, including pacemaker implantation. Alongside my clinical practice, I developed a strong passion for education and led a number of training and educational programmes within my specialist areas.

Following several years living abroad, I returned to the University in 2018 to pursue my commitment to teaching and academic practice. Since then, I have undertaken a variety of roles within the institution, including Technical Specialist and Nursing Lecturer, continuing to combine my enthusiasm for nursing and simulation-based education to inspire and support the next generation of healthcare professionals.

After a brief period working at another higher education institution in 2022, I returned to the University to take up my current role in Patient Safety and Simulation. In this position, I oversee the development of simulated practice learning opportunities and, more recently, the delivery and expansion of external simulation Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses.
