What is the difference between a trial and sentencing?  How do judges and magistrates decide what sentence should be in a particular case?  Should everyone who commits the same crime get the same sentence?  This interactive session will encourage students to think about the principles of sentencing, using case studies from the news to engage with current debates about how offenders should be sentenced.
