Responsibilities

 

I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering within the Faculty of Computing Engineering and Science (FCES) based in Stoke on Trent

I am award leader for the BSc(Hons) Aeronautical Technology degree, and the MSc Aeronautical Engineering post graduate award

I am the Admissions Tutor for the School of Engineering undergraduate and postgraduate awards, making the final decision on whether applicants can join us

I undertake international student recruitment, usually in India, and give guest lectures there two or three times a year.

I am elected teaching staff representative on the university's Board of Governors, and on its Education Committee
I am one of the elected teaching staff representatives on Academic Board

I am the Branch Secretary of the lecturers' union UCU 

About Me

Before working at the university, I worked at Lucas Aerospace in Wolverhampton as a graduate apprentice, then as a design engineer

I live in Wolverhampton
I am a magistrate on the Wolverhampton Bench
I am a School Governor of Weston Road Academy in Stafford
I used to fly light aircraft and have flown solo, and have also flown gliders
I enjoy travel and have been to over 100 countries

Expertise

Aircraft flight, mechanisms of lift and drag, aircraft propulsion systems, air crash analysis and investigation, supersonic flight, human factors, flight deck design

Enterprise and Commercial Activities

I am regularly asked to comment on air crashes and incidents on the radio
