Nomination process
- Nominating university sends details to the University of Staffordshire for the process to start by 30 April (Semester 1 or full year) or 30 September (Semester 2).
- Modules are selected from those currently offered by the academic teams, these are tailored to your current study course at your home university.
- Offer letter sent from our International Admissions team, inclusive with documents for uploading.
- Visa process completed (if needed).
- Online enrolment completed.
- Arrival and face-to-face enrolment completed, documents signed and stamped for funding confirmation.
Nominate a student – institutions
To nominate a student, please contact the Go Abroad team on: goabroad@staffs.ac.uk We can then send over the nomination form for you to complete and return. Once returned we will liaise with the academic team linked to the students degree course for current module choices and share with you/the student for choices to be made.
Completing your application – students
Once you have been nominated by your home institution, the Go Abroad team will manage your nomination. We will liaise with the academic teams for the up to date modules available, share these with you for you to choose from, work with our internal teams to create your offer then send you an application link. Please note we do not accept direct applications.

English language requirements
As part of the application process for international students, you’ll usually need to demonstrate your English language proficiency through a test recognised by University of Staffordshire.
Most of our courses require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component or an equivalent approved qualification. However, some courses have higher entry criteria due to accreditation requirements, or the need to have exceptional communication skills as part of the course.It is important to also check the English Language requirements specified on the entry requirements section of the course page.

Exams and assessments
All exams and assessments will be completed in line with the standard university policies.
Results are officially released to HEAR after 1 July annually.
You can access your provisional transcripts and results through your Evision account, which will be created when you join us.
Accommodation
Limited spaces are available on campus for year long exchanges, from £700 per month.
Many of our incoming study exchange students use GreenPad for their accommodation needs as they are visiting us short term. GreenPad is a free service for students to secure good quality, affordable accommodation. It is onwed and run by the Student’s Union.
Visa and health insurance
Visas and travel documents
Depending on whether you are joining us for 1 semester or a full year, there will be different visa requirements. See current advise on choosing your visa.
Our International Admissions team will support you with visa applications.
If you are an international student coming to the UK for more than 6 months, and you paid the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application, then you are entitled to use the National Health Service (NHS) in the same way as a UK resident. This means that most healthcare will be free.
If you are visiting the UK for less than 6 months, you will not have paid HIS as part of your visa application and will need to purchase your own health insurance for your trip.
You must always seek medical care in an emergency. The NHS will not deny you urgent treatment, even if you have not paid HIS. Please be aware however, that you may be liable to pay for treatments afterwards.

Our University Libraries are open to staff and students. We have experienced, professional staff to help you with your studies and in using the library. We have a great range of learning resources available both physically and digitally, along with dedicated study spaces and printing facilities.

Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre
The Sports Centre is located on our Leek Road campus and is open to students, staff and the public. Whether you want to train, keep fit or just have fun with friends, there are a great range of opportunities. Facilities include a large indoor sports hall with courts and climbing wall, state-of-the-art gym, and outdoor pitches (grass and astroturf).

The SU offers and Advice Service to all students, offering free, impartial and confidential support for a variety of academic and personal issues.
There are also a number of societies that you will be able to join should you wish to while you are with us.
There is also a full program of interactive events as well, everything from themed nights to films, trips to talks, there really is something for everyone.

We have exciting events happening throughout the year on our capus including:

- The Student's Union also run a full programme covering everything from social, sports, hobbies, health & wellbeing and faith.

Things to do in Staffordshire
Our main campus, based in Stoke-on-Trent, is a diverse city woven with history, modern culture, contemporary experiences. Also known as ‘The Potteries’, Stoke-on-Trent is a unique city made up of six distinct towns which have a rich heritage of ceramics and industrial art.
- Stoke-on-Trent Station is a mainline railway and is only a 2 minute walk from campus.
- Regular bus services operate directly outside campus and connect students to Hanley City Centre and the main bus station, allowing you to easily get around the local area.
Food and drink
You’ll find a great selection of restaurants and cafes in the local area. Try a traditional English afternoon tea at the Rabbit Hole Tea Room, Povey’s Oatcakes (a Staffordshire delicacy!), or head to the Glebe for some classic pub food. There are also plenty of international options on and around campus such as Pavillion Burrito Bar, Little Dumpling King and Panko & Sushi.
Nightlife
For live music go to The Undergound or the Sugarmill, there’s karaoke at The Strangled Cat, late night clubbing at Gossip! Or for a more relaxed evening try Bridge Street Ale House or Cherry Tree Pub.
Things to see and do
There are plenty of attractions in and around Staffordshire including sports, leisure activities and culture. Catch a football match at Port Vale and Stoke City football clubs, get competitive playing board games at Longrest Game Café or those seeking some adrenaline should head to the world famous Alton Towers! Theme park.
Get active with Padel, Park Run in Hanley Park or hiking in the Peak District.
Other places of interest include Trentham Gardens, Trentham Monkey Forest and the Potteries Museums, celebrating Stoke-on-Trent’s reputation as the ‘World Capital od Ceramics’.
You will also only be a train ride away from Manchester, Birmingham and a host of other major cities!
