Transition to Staffs Uni

Join us at our pre-arrival welcome events, where we’ll be delivering a range of different informal sessions, aimed at preparing you for university life and higher education so you can hit the ground running in your Staffordshire University journey.

  • Dates: Tuesday 5 September 09:45 – 13:30 or Thursday 7 September 12:45 – 15:30
  • Meeting point: the Pavilion Café, which is located in the Beacon Building, before the session commences in Beacon T101.

Is this event for me?

Whether you're transitioning from school or college or returning to education as a mature learner this is a brilliant opportunity to make sure you’re equipped with the knowledge you’ll need to have a great start. You’ll also get the opportunity to meet support staff from a range of different areas and some friendly current students before you even officially start your studies with us.

What to expect

3.5-hour event with different sessions relating to concerns which students often have when starting university.

  • Meeting people and making friends – get advice and guidance from current students who have experienced this recently first hand.
  • Doing well on your course – key information and resource sharing with our excellent Academic Skills team.
  • Managing your wellbeing – learn about our support teams, have the opportunity to sign up to our mentoring scheme and gain some top tips from current students and support staff on how best to look after your wellbeing when at university.
  • Earning and managing money – get some great advice on budgeting as a student and part-time work opportunities at the university which can boost your career prospects.
