First year:
We’ll introduce you to how companies manage people in the workplace, including organisational behaviour and employment relations. You’ll cover key areas such as recruitment and selection of staff, learning and development at work, and pay structures.
You will also study five core law modules. These include contract and tort law, which are both aspects of civil law and cover legal agreements and civil liabilities. You will also learn about constitutional law – the rules and laws of the state.
And you will begin to develop your legal skills, including writing, referencing and research – crucial for any future legal career.
Second year:
You will learn about property law, EU law and the lawfulness of decisions taken by public bodies. We will also explore criminal law, including how the courts operate and key elements of criminal liability. You will develop your analytical and problem-solving skills by looking at complex case scenarios.
On the human resource management side, you’ll get to grips with equality, diversity and inclusion. This will cover contemporary debates, how to put policies into practice and leadership styles.
Third year:
We offer a wide range of optional modules. You can focus on how to make effective leadership interventions or choose to explore how to manage performance and workplace learning and development.
In law, modules cover areas such as human rights, cyber law and AI, alternative dispute resolution, employment law, and family law. You can learn mooting in our digitally enabled mock courtrooms, where you’ll present a point of law and argue your case in front of a judge.
If you volunteer with our Legal Advice Service, you’ll offer free advice to the public under supervision. We also offer street law, where you could be doing presentations for school students or community groups on useful legal topics.
