Whether you want to build skills in leadership to advance in your career, or you want to brush up the latest skills and application of leadership in quality and innovation, this module is for you.

With the experts at University of Staffordshire, you to consider key leadership topics in relation to Health and Social Care. Leadership theories will provide a valuable lens through which approaches to achieving collaborative working practice can be explored. These theories address dimensions of leadership such as change management, conflict, teamwork, motivation, and power.

On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: Individual Modules Leadership Role in Quality, Innovation and Change

Duration

This course runs every Wednesday for 6 weeks

Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (30 hours)

20 hours of classroom lectures*, 8 hours of group work, seminars, 2 hours of group / individual tutorials.

Eight days in total

6 days face to face

1 day face to face in labs

1 day online

= 90% face to face, 10 % online

Guided Independent Study: (120 hours)

100 hours: This might include reading, shadowing and visits to alternative practice settings, reflective writing/journals, preparation for assessment (formative and summative),

20 hours: The importance of the patient experience in relation to leadership topics will be considered through group discussion and formative assessment.

Course content

The nature of health and social care environments will be granted close consideration, for example, local and national directives that impact upon quality issues and client care.

You will be encouraged to develop a context-sensitive and multifaceted appreciation of leadership topics. This will enable you to recognise how a complex intersection of relational, organisational and cultural factors shape the basis of successful leadership.

Entry requirements

Evidence of the ability to study at levels 6 or above and/or relevant health and social care experience.

Sources of financial support
