Studying Physical Education and Sports Coaching

Introducing your course leader - Jack Bullock

Hello! My name is Jack Bullock and I am Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) PE & Sport Coaching degree here at the University of Staffordshire.

I have always been incredibly passionate about sport and took up football, swimming and golf from a young age – though how good my golf swing is at the moment is up for debate! I am particularly passionate about football; I am an avid Walsall supporter (someone has to be!) and season ticket holder, and I follow England home and away.

I have been in education as a lecturer and course leader for over a decade, and have taught children, young people and adults studying sport programmes in that time. My main areas of expertise and interest are in teaching and coaching pedagogy, the sociology of sport and providing impactful student experience.

I am proud to lead this course and of the outstanding track record we have as a course team in preparing our students to progress smoothly through their university journey with us and towards meaningful career destinations such as primary, secondary and tertiary education teaching, youth sport and academy coaching and other related fields. I am looking forward to the prospect of welcoming you to our Department of Sport and Sciences here at the University of Staffordshire.

Activator Day with We Do Tennis

During the course, you'll take part in exciting practical sessions like this Activator Day with Andy Moss, Head of Parks at We Do Tennis.

In this video, our students get a hands-on coaching experience about bringing sport to the community, while preparing students for future careers in coaching and teaching.

During the Activator Day, our students stepped onto the court not just as players, but as leaders. They took part in real coaching activities, learning how to deliver engaging sessions, communicate effectively, and inspire others through sport.

And experiences like this are more than just practice - they're a stepping stone to your career.
