International Orientation activities

The Student Support and Experience team are very pleased to welcome you to the UK and to Staffordshire University. Our Orientation Programme is designed to supplement other welcome activities and help you prepare for life in a new country and new culture and give you all the information you need to settle into Staffordshire University and Stoke-on-Trent.

Every week day, 2pm-4pm, International drop-in

There is a lot to think about and a lot to do when you first arrive. That's why our International advice team will be available in the Science Centre every day 2pm-4pm during Welcome to answer all of your questions.

Welcome to the Potteries! The City of Stoke-On-Trent is famous for it’s the pottery industry. Come and open your creative mind and make a piece of unique clay pottery to take home.

Tuesday 26 September 2023 

4pm, Walk around the Nature reserve

There is a lot of natural beauty on campus for all to see; join us on a little relaxing stroll. Enjoy the sights and take in the calm and tranquil nature. You may even spot one of our resident swans, rabbits, or kingfishers!

Wednesday 27 September 2023

10am and 3pm, The Welcome Fair 

The Welcome fair will take place in the Catalyst building. Come along at any point between 10am and 3pm for help, advice, and support from all departments across the university.

Come along to the grounds of the Science Centre to create a masterpiece that you can keep (no previous experience needed!)

6pm-9pm, Welcome to Britain Celebration

 We are celebrating the beginning of a new academic year! All students are invited to come along to the Catalyst building on Friday 29th September 2023 6pm-9pm for a fun filled evening with craft activities, music, dancing, and some fabulous entertainment. Food will be served in the Catalyst kitchen to those who have a ticket.  Tickets will be available soon!

Please remember to bring your student ID card.

Monday 2 October 2023

1pm - 2pm, Plant a seed. 

A tiny seedling that will take root and develop into a strong, healthy plant. Sound familiar? Come along and join us planting a seed that you can take away with you. All equipment will be provided.

3pm-4pm, Tie Dye

Come along to our free event. You will be given a canvas bag to get creative on. Then once your marvellous creation is complete you get to take it home with you.

2:30pm-3:30pm Friendship Bracelet Making.

Whether you have new friends or old, why not join us over in the Science centre and create a fabric friendship bracelet. All equipment needed will be provided and you can take you bracelet away with you. Alternatively, you can gift it to a friend!

As the City of Stoke-On-Trent is famous for its pottery, come and open your creative mind and make a piece of unique clay pottery.

If you have not already, please book a place at one of our International Welcome Days. These days will offer a chance to meet other students as well as support services. There will be games and activities as well as a £5 lunch voucher.
