This postgraduate certificate provides a framework for educators’ development as inclusive practitioners and enhances contribution to their organisation’s ability to maintain and enhance its approaches to inclusion. You will critically evaluate your approach to teaching, supporting student learning and contributing to inclusive practice development.

This course has been designed to support professionals employed within education organisations that hold the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM).

IQM, a UK-wide body, was established in the UK in October 2004 to support both state and independent schools to become inclusive. IQM aspires to be at the forefront of developments to ensure the inclusive education of young people, believing that for future generations to be able to live in harmony, we all have a responsibility to ensure that we provide an inclusive education for every child.

For further information, see: https://iqmaward.com/

Upon completion of this course students can progress onto the MA Education 60 Credit Advanced Standing: https://www.staffs.ac.uk/course/education-advanced-standing-60-ma

On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: PgCert Promoting Inclusive Education

Course content

To be awarded this specialist Post Graduate Certificate, students will study two modules: Contemporary Issues in Inclusive Education (20 credits), followed by Future Improvements to Inclusive Practice (40 credits). The first module will utilise your understanding of inclusive policies and practices to enable you to critically review your organisation’s IQM self-evaluation report. The second module then provides you with the opportunity to conduct a small-scale project that identifies an aspect of inclusive practice which you consider needs developing within your organisation.

Modules

The tables provide an indicative list of the modules that make up the course for the current academic year. Each module is worth a specified number of credits. Our teaching is informed by research, and modules change periodically to reflect developments in the discipline. We aim to ensure that all modules run as scheduled. If for any reason a module cannot be run we will advise you as soon as possible and will provide guidance on selecting an appropriate alternative module.
