Staffordshire University London has long been known for its commitment to providing high-quality education in various fields, including computing. Year after year, it has produced graduates who go on to achieve remarkable success in their careers. In this article, we delve into the inspiring journey of one such graduate who studied MSc Computer Science (Cyber Security) at Staffordshire University London and has since carved a path at global blockchain incubator, Block Dojo.

Ibrahim Oladimeji, a name that has become synonymous with innovation in the field of computing, started his academic journey at Staffordshire University London in 2022. As an international student, proudly hailing from southwestern Nigeria, Oyo State, he began his journey transitioning from a mathematics background during his undergraduate studies. Ibrahim quickly realised his own aspirations in becoming a computer science specialist seeking to utilise his skills and knowledge to help protect information security within organisations.

Course Director of Computing, Dr. Vahid Tafreshi, credits Ibrahim during his time at the university, “I have had the privilege of teaching, Ibrahim for the past year and a half, and I have been consistently impressed by his dedication, independence, and enthusiasm. He has been a student who has consistently gone above and beyond expectations, with his work always of the highest quality, and eager to learn new things. I am confident that Ibrahim will continue to achieve great things in the future.”

One of the standout aspects of Staffordshire University London's computing program is its emphasis on industry relevance. The course introduced Ibrahim to a broad range of cyber security topics, which helped to nurture his existing knowledge of computer science and led to him successfully acquiring a certification in XRY tools, a forensic software training program. The training provided Ibrahim with essential skills in report writing and digital crime investigation. Ibrahim immensely benefited from the guidance and mentorship of his Course Director, who not only imparted theoretical knowledge but also helped to bolster his confidence in public speaking and encouraged proactive learning. This support was instrumental in shaping Ibrahim's academic and professional development.

Ibrahim’s exceptional skills and the strong foundation he had built at Staffordshire University London quickly caught the attention of tech company, Block Dojo, located on Here East’s campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The company was ranked among the top 5 blockchain incubators globally and nurtures start-up companies over a 12-week period, providing training, support, and a £10,000 fund. The programme culminates in a showcase where potential investors are introduced to the start-ups.

Ibrahim’s time at Block Dojo proved to be an invaluable experience, “Whilst working at Block Dojo, it has truly enriched my understanding of applying academic knowledge to practical, real-world scenarios,”. He stated, “It has informed me of the intricacies of start-up failures, exposing the challenges they face and methods to surmount them, both technologically and non-technologically. I've delved into business models, competitor analysis, pitching to investors, and effectively communicating business ideas to diverse audiences.”

Ibrahim's success story is a testament to the quality of education and the nurturing environment provided by Staffordshire University London. The university's emphasis on industry relevance, coupled with the dedicated support of its faculty, has prepared Ibrahim for a promising career in the field of computing.

Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to Staffordshire University London for the role it played in his journey, “Staffordshire University London has been instrumental in refining my communication skills,” he stated. “Effective communication has enabled me to network with potential employers and help foster career growth. Additionally, the ethos of perseverance that has been instilled in me by the university has been invaluable—continually striving for excellence.”

Staffordshire University London's commitment to excellence in education, industry relevance, and community engagement continues to produce graduates who make a significant impact in their respective fields.
