‘Crime’ encompasses a wide range of offences, including domestic violence, fraud, acts of terrorism, football hooliganism, illicit drug use, trafficking and murder. Trends in crime change over time, and therefore the priorities of the National Crime Agency need to reflect the most serious threats to the UK. However, public knowledge of crime and justice predominantly derives from the media, whether that is traditional or, more recently, online media.
Careers in the justice system can include roles focused on the prediction, prevention and investigation of offences, in addition to the reduction of reoffending, the rehabilitation of offenders and support services for victims. We can close the visit with a talk outlining what careers paths are available with a Criminology degree, how students can enter different careers and where opportunities are likely to develop in the future.
