Equipment and software

For the first sessions in Welcome Week – it would be useful to bring a notepad and pen – while we’ll make sure you have access to any information you need – you might want to note a few things down. As you start your lectures and teaching then you’ll want to make sure you always bring a few things to your sessions. Pens and a notebook are a must, while you’ll find that always carrying a scientific calculator will mean that you’re always prepared. It is advisable to purchase calculator which can handle complex number calculations such as Casio FX-83GTX Scientific Calculator.

Even though all the software and hardware are available to you on campus, if you would like to purchase a personal computer to work from home outside of lecture time then it is advisable to use a Windows operating system rather than Mac OS or Linux for Engineering applications and software.

Once enrolled, you can download software such as Office 365 free of charge from the University.
