Before you arrive

  1. Important documents

Make sure you have your passport, Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, a copy of your offer letter, evidence of your funding via a sponsor letter or bank statement, English Language certificate (where required), TB screening certificate (where required), original certificates for your qualifications, and ATAS certificate (where required). If you have a Student Visa, make sure that your evisa is linked to your passport and that the information is correct.

  2. Travel arrangements

If you do not require a visa to enter the UK, remember to apply for your ETA before you travel. Make sure you have booked your onward travel to the university. The Stoke campus is easily accessible by train or you arrange a taxi to your accommodation through one of our local taxi companies.

  3. Luggage

Keep your important documents safely in your hand luggage. Make a copy of all your documents to pack in your main luggage. We also suggest you leave a copy of all important documents at home and ensure you have digital copies stored safely and securely that you can access if you lose physical documents. Have a warm jumper/coat for your arrival in the UK as it may be cooler here than your home. Check the weight limitations for luggage with your airline, and also consider that you’ll need to carry your luggage.

  4. Finances

Make sure you have access to sufficient cash/credit card/travel card for your first few weeks in the UK before you can open a bank account. Check with your relevant government department regarding taking money out of your country as there may be restrictions. Make sure that you’ve organised your finances before you do – Make sure you know how much you will need to pay for your accommodation and ensure you have extra funds available for unexpected expenses.

  5. Complete International Portal modules and Book English Assessment

You need to complete some modules on the International Portal before you can complete enrolment. You can find the invite to enrol in your student email account. The modules contain important information about your visa responsibilities as well as life at University of Staffordshire. Most students will also be asked to attend an English Assessment before enrolment. This is to determine if you would benefit from an English support class.

  6. Complete online enrolment

Upload a photograph and complete your online enrolment through the university portal. You will not be able to fully enrol and get your university student card until you have completed your online enrolment.
