Facilities and expertise in Engineering

Undergraduate

Whichever Engineering degree you choose, you’ll learn in state-of-the-art facilities to enable you to develop the technical, professional and hands-on skills necessary to solve real-world problems.

You’ll access the latest professional-standard facilities, including our thermofluids and aeronautical lab with computerised wind tunnel and flight simulator, our reverse engineering lab, real-time lab, renewable engineering lab and our automotive workshop with rolling road dynamometer. There’s also our £1.3m Smart Zone which fuses fabrication spaces with augmented and blended reality technologies, allowing you to bring ideas to life.

Facility Highlight - Make sure you check out our Smart Zone!

Be a part of the future of technology in our Smart Zone; a bustling centre of invention, innovation and creation. The area spans over two floors and houses dedicated workshops, collaboration and maker spaces for our engineering and creative students, as well as high-end computing facilities and the latest in digital and immersive technologies.

I really enjoyed using the Flight Simulator; you can do lift offs, taxiing and landing. It was amazing! You could get a full 180-degree view and you could choose pretty much any airport in the world - from Madrid to New York.

The facilities helped us to design our ideas, visualize them and bringing them into life.

There were different materials available in the Smart Zone. We had various design programmes, as well as 3D printing facilities and plenty of tools to help us in our final year project. This helped us to design our ideas, visualize them and bringing them into life.
