Do you want to study a recognised professional qualification and keep up with the latest trends in marketing? If you want to get on in marketing, then the CIM courses will give you the skills and knowledge to succeed.
The CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing offers the practicing marketer with relevant and contemporary marketing content. The Diploma aims to provide you with the knowledge and understanding to support a marketing role at management level within the workplace. You will learn how to take a strategic approach. In addition, you will keep up with the latest trends & learn how to use key marketing metrics and measurement techniques to make informed strategic decisions.
Staffordshire University has been a CIM Accredited Study Centre for over 30 years. During this time, we have been commended by the CIM for our results.
On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing
This course is part-time and is delivered through a mix of face to face and online teaching. Evening face to face session are held weekly, usually on Thursdays between 6-9pm. Some modules will include sessions delivered through webinars rather than face to face teaching.
You can complete your course in one year.
The CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing is a part-time, one-year course, and consists of three modules.

The tables provide an indicative list of the modules that make up the course for the current academic year. Each module is worth a specified number of credits. Our teaching is informed by research, and modules change periodically to reflect developments in the discipline. We aim to ensure that all modules run as scheduled. If for any reason a module cannot be run we will advise you as soon as possible and will provide guidance on selecting an appropriate alternative module.
This module is about taking a strategic approach in marketing. Module covers situational analysis, wider macro level analysis and taking those insights on devising strategies. The module will help the learner to devise a comprehensive strategic marketing plan.

This module examines the importance of managing marketing data in effective marketing decision making. It presents the role of marketing metrics within the organisation and establishes how an understanding of a range of measurement techniques can enable organisations to achieve marketing insights and strategic decision making.

This module provides insight into how organisations can implement digital marketing capabilities into strategic marketing planning. It outlines how an understanding and analysis of the macro- and micro- environments can enable organisations to assess the impact of the disruptive digital landscape in delivering objectives, in order to develop strategic recommendations.

Our teaching is supported through our Virtual Learning Environment called Blackboard. This means you can access a range of materials to support your lectures wherever you are.
We’ll also assign you a tutor to support you throughout your portfolio.
There are two types of assessments: practice (also called formative) or formal (also called summative).
Practice assessments do not count towards your final mark. These are your chance to test your understanding – and learn how to improve for the real thing.
You’ll have formal assessments at the end of each module. These could include essays, exams, or portfolios and are set and administered by the CIM.
In addition to the excellent support you will receive from your course teaching team, our central Academic Skills team provides group and one-to-one help to support your learning in a number of areas. These include study skills (including reading, note-taking and presentation skills); written English (including punctuation and grammatical accuracy); academic writing (including how to reference); research skills; critical thinking and understanding arguments; and revision, assessment and examination skills (including time management).
Our AccessAbility Services support students with additional needs such as sensory impairment, or learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
We know that it’s important for you to be able to gauge your progress. So, your tutor will give you feedback on any practice assessments you do.
We usually give you feedback on formal assessments within 20 working days, but the format will vary for each module.

Course Leader for Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and with a background in Training and Assessing in Digital Marketing and Digital Media, Kathryn has worked on several Digital Marketing projects, consulting in strategic decisions for SME’s and building lasting links with businesses.
Samanthika completed her doctoral degree at the University of Nottingham Business School in 2018. Her research interest is in the area of consumer behaviour particularly focusing on transformative consumer research, social marketing, health and well-being, consumer emotions and identities. She has experience working in both academia and industry in the UK, Australia and Sri Lanka.
Angela is a Chartered Marketer and holds an MSc in Strategic Marketing with Digital Marketing. Coming from a marketing practitioner background, Angela has worked for multi-national organisations in global marketing management roles. Since joining Staffordshire University in 2013, Angela has managed a number of courses within the Business School and has brought structure and teaching excellence to courses, resulting in high levels of student satisfaction.
Prof Maheshwari has held several academic leadership roles such as Head of Department, Director of Postgraduate programmes, MBA Programme Director and Senior Lecturer at various UK HE institutions. He has active affiliations with a number of professional bodies such as Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing, Academy of Marketing and British Academy of Management.

With over ten years’ experience and knowledge of PR, I wanted to expand my knowledge of the wider marketing landscape and associated processes. The CIM offered me a the chance to understand a more detailed approach to marketing and wider knowledge of multi-channel strategies throughout the marketing process.
The course was both vast and detailed in what it offered, enabling me to adopt a more strategic approach to my campaigns and working, from initial stages right through to measuring and analysing success.
My successful completion of the CIM marketing courses helped organise my knowledge of marketing and brought my skills up to date.
